Substance
It’s been a little while since I last wrote a post of substance; that is to say one that was more than just brief tidbits or musings. I’ll bring all 2 of you that read this blog up to speed.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately, which has a lot to do with this post. The following are books I’ve recently acquired in my quest for knowledge:
- Code Complete, by Steve McConnell
- C# 3.0 Cookbook, (O’Reilly), by Jay Hilyard and Stephen Teilhet
- Learning Python, (O’Reilly), by Mark Lutz
- Database Nation, by Simson Garfinkel
Right now I’m learning Python and polishing up my C# skills. Once things stabilize in both areas, and school workload is handled, I’ll be moving on to much grittier topics, like assembler.
I’m also building a poor-man’s server cluster out of 3 older laptops and a fairly decent box (which will act as load balancer). There’s really no purpose to this project other than learning, so I’m unsure what I will do with it once its all set up. (Which may not be for some time, since I have a full plate of other learning going on.)
I should have more news shortly on my internship, but right now I’ll leave this ambiguous for various reasons.
Spokane 2600 meeting is this Friday, so if you’re interested, local, and reading this post, then you ought to contact me for more information.
